Sandra Rodriguez (Rios)

RODRIGUEZ Sandra B. Rodriguez, 59 wouldn't have liked to consider herself a HERO, most hero's don't. That's why on February 22, 2012 when Sandy Rodriguez passed away at her home, all of us who knew her as HERO, could now celebrate her as one. She fought for her kids and people in every part of El Paso. You name the Recreation Center-she was part of it, dedicating 34 years of her life to the Parks & Recreation Department. From basketball to kids at risk, from the barrio to the west side - Our hero gave it all, all the time. Even while fighting her own battles she was always second. Her family learned that together all things are possible, no sweet tea is ever sweet enough, disco is never really dead - all while learning Sandy's simple lesson: "You can be a hero too!" Sandy is survived by her husband; Angel Rios and children Cody and Ashley. We will be celebrating this hero's Life. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, February 27, 2012 at St. Raphael Catholic Church (2301 Zanzibar). Rosary will begin at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be on February 28, 2012 at 11 am at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery East. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Please visit on-line register book at,

I will always remember the times we spent at the Sunset Recreation Center helping kids in the local area as well as helping out with troubled kids with Ken. Of course I will always remember your cheery smile as my classmate

at "La High". May God guide you on your next journey and may he hold you close in his heart. You deserve it.

Sandy- the 4 years of our toy and food drives were some of the best time we had in High School. Your mom was always the best and sweetest mom anyone could have.  You will be missed
